I blame it on my dad, and Joe Vogler. “Think outside the box”, “Don’t be a sheep”, and Alaskans for Independence………rebellious thinkers, and the “apple” (me) didn’t fall far from the tree.
I’ve never been one to go to the doctor. Maybe because my dad didn’t believe in it. I don’t remember going other than for the bare minimum vaccines required to go to public school. If we were sick, we just healed.
There was the time I got a giant splinter under my middle fingernail that went nearly to my first knuckle . Dad gave me a wooden pencil to bite on and performed minor surgery to remove the splinter. That was normal to me. I healed.
Somewhere along the way I fell in line and delivered my kids in the traditional hospital, got them vaccines, and acted somewhat civilized like normal people. “Somewhat civilized”, but never straight down the middle. I avoided medications, avoided antibiotics, and began to seek out knowledge about health, nutrition, fasting, whole foods, natural products, and the seven principles of health. Humans are meant to heal themselves.
My job offered free blood yearly blood panels, flu shots, and who knows what else. I found the blood tests useful and used them as a resource and reassurance that I was healthy and on the right track. . Until one day I wasn’t. My liver values were high. Really high. They wanted a second opinion. So I went to get more information. The doctor ordered many sets of tests and wanted to diagnose me with an autoimmune disease. He wanted to tell me that my body was killing my liver. It was evidently serious. He wanted to put me on medication for life. So, before he officially diagnosed me with anything, I walked out of his office and decided to heal myself.
My diet wasn’t bad. It wasn’t perfect but I ate healthy. But something was obviously wrong. If it wasn’t my food, what was it? I needed to look at my emotions. Anger can affect the liver. I decided to make some changes. I was going to fast and reset. I changed my diet to whole foods only. No processed foods. No meat. Lots and lots of vegetables, berries and fruits and mentally prepared for a fast.
When I was ready, I water fasted for 21 days, and I healed. My next annual blood test was perfect. Three years later I went to the same medical doctor for an advanced blood panel (for my own information) and there was no sign of anything wrong. My liver values and everything was great. He didn’t mention his quest to diagnose me with an autoimmune disease. And he jokingly said I would live to be 100.
I believe we can heal ourselves. I really do. But can my sister heal her cancer?? Cancer. That’s scary.
